Today’s THE HINDU news paper contains an article about SRM University. I am really glad on how SRM makes into the news quiet often, an emerging tremendous success to its group. Before it used to be for wrong reasons, no more one could see them anymore. Every updates we see these days on SRM, shows a good future for students who are currently studying and for those who plan to join the University.

Thats right, SRM University have made some interesting annoucments of offering scholarships for toppers in higher secondary level. Whilst some sense this as an act to attract (marketing technique) these top rank holders to their instution, you can notice the scholardhips are provided to students even if they opt-out of SRM! I couldn’t believe this for a second, but just refreshed the page (!!) and while it loaded back it was right!
Voila! It was exciting at first to start my practise test with TOEFL iBT but I moved on it started to get hectic as the lectures and passages were tempting me to take a break. I just get started with my TOEFL preparations today, many say that one does not need a preparation for TOEFL.. now thats crazy I would say! If you good on the quality of English then it stays good else its a nightmare! I mean more than knowledge and content, Presence of Mind is what matters the most.
I gave shot through Kaplan CD-ROM and I should say I performed well in listening than in reading. I was able to score a 80% in my listening on my first test while 60% on reading and as far Speaking and Writing, I had to self grade myself due to offline functionality of the program. But after couple of more practice I aim to reach a decent level. I firmly believe nothing comes to your hand without practice. I am still feeling nervous about GRE as I haven’t yet started much on it. But TOEFL is great, specially I love the listening part but sometime it drives me made when the lecture is about Marine Biology or Psychology based subjects as I gotta pay extra attention to them.
I was recording my voice through exam and played back to see if it was any good, I guess voice is good only that if I had added more content respective to the subject I am talkin’ about it could have added more sense! (Giggles!!). All in All, in couple of more practice I wish I could ace them! And for all your TOEFL iBT takes, Kaplan is really good choice to go on with. I have Barrons and Longman which I shall try out after I complete the test from Kaplan (only if I have ample of time!).
Leaving to have my lunch and will be relaxing for a while and have to attend the marriage reception function of my college mate’s sister. And I can expect a small meet with many of classmates there. And after all its food, party & enjoyment everyone is looking out for! Seeya guys!
WoW! I am using it for the second time this Month, the first time I used this word when I installed and had my Microsoft Windows Vista OS (Ultimate Edition) in my Laptop and now using it for the most awaited change in my University career! Our University has been lacking a professional website for years and now after turning from Deemed University to University its all happening at SRM! The new site is designed by a private firm SHLOK Information Systems (Indo-European Company) and has come out brilliant and you can check out the developers site @ www.shloklabs.com which does look as good as the University Website that they have developed.
Lets start my crazy tips for preparing and appearing for exams. As I stated in my previous blog, these tips to just entertain you people and not to be noted serious. HuH!! After this is my blog and its my wish to blog about anything I like (isn’t?) !
TIP #1: The 40 of 40
The scenario is examination hall where you are provided with an answer sheet where one would normally answer the questions and fill pages. When I mean 40, it depends on the answer booklet you receive during exams. We get an answer sheet that has 40 pages embedded in it. Students normally feel by filling all the 40 pages in a answer sheet would gradually help them secure a pass percentage required to clear the subject.
The plan is something like this, 35 upon 70 is considered passmark as of our college is considered. You make sure you fill all the entire 40 pages and estimating 1 mark for each page would definitely fetch you somewhere around 40 (something above 35) and that gives you a clear idea of getting though the exams. When I mean filling pages, that doesn’t have to be filling with crap or different subject other than one you appear. Learn something and provide them in a elaborate way. Plan the way you would answer various sections. 6 to 7 (or max of 
for 10 Mark questions and remaining used for 2 marks.
The basic idea is, students feel that people who evaluate the answer sheets don’t posses much patience and correct these answer sheets as soon as possible so as to cover the remaining 100’s of sheets in their hands. By doing so they just look out for specific data on your marksheet such as a digram, equation, syntax or keyword thats related with question you will be answering. But at times, when the work of these evaluators go tedious they just put some random marks depending on contents and so 40 pages would definitely secure you a good pass percentage.
But do make sure you learn something so you can make use of entire 3 hours of examination. This is just 1 of crazy tips that I am providing you, check back soon for more updates that I would provide here. Overall, nothing is as good as “PURE DEDICATION & HARDWORD” !
Proejcts..? projects.. projects!!? The Buzz word when you? probably are in? Final Year of College.? So? whats? thrilling about it ?? Does it give you credits ? Fame? Money? Job? Career? Wife (lol)? Well, we all know the most crucial time of college is when we reach the end of it thinking about our projects.
The funniest part of? is, we start as if knew nothing about developing one but end up in bringing up something we might not have never thought about.? Dedication, Concentraton and some Team Work is all you need to keep it moving. Most of us at this time are in hunt for ideas for the final year projects.
Its really pain doing things at last minute though we have time and resource to get it done. I spent some time today to find some of the areas/topics on which the final year project can be worked upon (though my field would always be in Web Development, I wanted to help my fellow friends with some ideas that I can provide them to implement their work).
I am just trying to stick? around CSE/IT related areas? for some topics/ideas. Though there are pleanty around, I will keep updating this page when needed and meanwhile if you feel you got some good idea, post a comment below.

SMS Pizza Ordering
The Software must be able to Recieve SMS from registered users to order Pizzas. The user sends an SMS in a preefined format to a number. A GSM module connected to a PC is used to read SMS and Process the order. A bill will be printed on a printer attached.

IDS (Internet Distribution System)
IDS (Internet Distribution System) aims at capturing the data regarding any hotel that comes and registers with the IDS and maintains the data regarding its rooms, inventory, setting up of the rates for the rooms on different criteria like segment, Timeframe and season, setting up of discounts and provides for online reservation for the Hotel. The Hotel would be charged based upon the reservations made and a predefined agreement between the Hotelier and the IDS.
Embedded web server for remote access
The aim of the project is to control the devices or equipment’s from the remote place through a web-page. Here all the devices which are to be controlled are connected to the relays(acts as switches)on the webserver circuit board. The web-server circuit is connected to LAN or internet. The client or a person on the PC is also connected to same LAN or internet. By typing the IP-address of LAN on the web browser,the user gets a web-page on screen, this page contains all the information about the status of the devices( whether they are ON or OFF). On this page the user is provided with checkboxes to check or uncheck the boxes in order switch OFF or switch ON the devices.? ?
