Google adds perfect Ad to Orkut!

logo

Google adds perfect Ad to Orkut!Earlier in September 2006, I had posted a blog entry about Google integrating its Google AdSense into Orkut and now Google is moving ahead further by introducing its applications which is normally available to AdSense publishers as referral programs.

Google is really innovative, here is why.. while I was checking out one of my friends profile page I wanted to check her album and when I navigated to the album page right beneath the display picture next to options I could see a new ad pop in which read “Find, Edit and share your photos - Google’s photo organizer“? which when clicked would re-direct to Picasa’s Home Page. Remember Picasa is Google’s Photo Organizer application and which is a FREE tool available for Windows XP (only) PC users.

The integration of such ads at Album Page is a really good marketting way to push Google’s product that specilizes in Photo organizing and editing. Way to go google! But this did not work in all my friends Photo Album when I checked.. just one of now. Probably Google is testing this idea of integrating Picasa ads at Album page of Orkut users?

SRM University goes Global!

logo

SRM University Website - SRM Engineering CollegeWoW! I am using it for the second time this Month, the first time I used this word when I installed and had my Microsoft Windows Vista OS (Ultimate Edition) in my Laptop and now using it for the most awaited change in my University career! Check out our SRM University new website launched today at www.srmuniv.ac.in and I am sure you would use the same word I just happened to use.

Our University has been lacking a professional website for years and now after turning from Deemed University to University its all happening at SRM! The new site is designed by a private firm SHLOK Information Systems (Indo-European Company) and has come out brilliant and you can check out the developers site @ www.shloklabs.com which does look as good as the University Website that they have developed.

Enable Hidden BootScreen in Windows Vista

logo

Enable Hidden BootScreen in Windows VistaThe Windows Vista BootScreen is pointless, but Microsoft decided to hide a more visually appealing boot screen that can easily be enabled with very little trouble.

A digg article that I came across and worked sweet, I was wondering why Microsoft had not provided Vista users with more appealing boot screen as the actual boot screen that comes with default vista is boring. You can have a look how the default boot screen looks for the Windows Vista OS here.

After I read the article which need just 1 step to complete the process of obtaining a new boot screen which looks better than the present one, my boot screen now looks sweeter than before.

To sum up, here are the steps you gotta follow and I have taken couple of screenshots myself and even shot the boot screen with my Sony Ericsson w850i Camera Phone (forgive me about the quality!). Give it a try (only Windows Vista Users :P).

Getting started with GRE

logo

Phew! I suppose I delayed a lot for the preparation of GRE. Ever since I joined my Bachelor Degree at SRM Institute of Science of Technology for my B.Tech - IT (Information Technology), I always wanted to specialize in the area which I always loved and had passion. Though I had passion towards Web Design & Development, the degree at college did give me ethics of the basic I needed to know to survive in IT Field.

I was about to start my GRE preparations right at the month of August and wanted to appear around month of November. But as we all know we come across bad time and happenings in our life.

I did experience few glitches which made be move slow in my GRE preparations, now forgetting about all odd happenings around me I am back charged up to take my GRE examination and move ahead with my dream. I have joined Princeton Review, a prominent institution which offers you a course on gearing up for GRE Examination a mandatory test for taking MS at USA!

Couple of minutes before blogging this article I booked for my GRE examnination through ETS official website and I have choosen to go with June 5th as my exam date. Its exactly around 4 months from now and the funny or serious fact about the dates is GRE is getting revised from August and hence the current syllabus remains only till July 31st 2007 and hence students who are keen to take their GRE should be give it a go before the month of July. Hearing from couple of friends that dates in July is already occupied and with just few dates left for June I had to check through their site and found June 4th and 5th were the only options available and hence went ahead with booking my date on June 5th 2007 and timing would be at 9:00 AM and the center I was assigned was PROMETRIC TEST CENTER at Nungambakkam, which is just 10 minutes drive from my house.

All in all, I just kick started to pursue my preparations over GRE and should positively get through it sooner and planning to join around Fall 2008 with an year of experience in IT industry before I proceed. What ever I am aiming to take a MS in Computer Science Engineering at University of South California for the specilization in Creative Multimedia Technologies. Probably my area of interest is in Multimedia and Web Technologies and hence wanted to go with that.

Have my GRE classes between 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM on every Saturday and Sundays for next couple of months and hopefuly plan to improve my vocabulary skills and indeed improve professional blogging :)! Doesn’t that help in multiple ways ? Well. all I wanna is “All the best to me for my GRE Examinations and good luck with the preparations”.

Cheers!

Yahoo! Messenger for Windows Vista

logo

Yahoo! Messenger for Windows VistaIts been a week since I have been trying out Vista and as of now I am having a good time with Vista and the best thing about Vista is its Search & Security atleast thats what I have been experimenting past 1 week. And the bad thing is its using crazy amount of my RAM usage, even while my system (notebook) is idle, its using 550+ MB of RAM usage and one more bad thing about Vista is you cannot experience a good computing using 1 GB RAM.

The 1 GB RAM is minimum requirement for installing Vista while you would need 2 GIG to have a better experience. I could see my Photoshop hanging everytime I open it on Vista and its making really bugging while this is not the case with Windows XP, I hope this gets fixed soon or the Photoshop Team should come up a special version of Vista.

While talking about a special version of Vista, I would like to point out that Yahoo! Team are busy working for a exclusive version of Yahoo! Messenger for Windows Vista and they have already put a temporary site where you can learn about the features the new version will contain. While I was about to upgrade my Yahoo! Messenger today to the latest available version I came to know that Yahoo! is working on a new version of Vista with more added features and making Vista computing the best ever.
