Okrut is just been amazing for couple of days..! Why?because they opened their gates to public (no more invitations) and bunch of features were rolled out. I had been noticing comments from my last three posts (Orkut Public | Orkut New Features | Orkut Top 5 Faq), many felt the new features in orkut but unfortunately some had issues with seeing orkut public registrations.
Probably this is accessible for Indians as an exclusive compliment for Diwali Festival today? It might be the answer, but no one is aware of it either. What ever, today is Diwali and first thing I wanted to do early morning was to check Orkut and woooo another update on their home page.
Orkut has removed their “who do you know?” picture which stands in middle of their login page and replaced with a new traditonal indian festival (Diwali) based logo. The logo with tri indian color with implying festival of lights was simply awesome! What surprised me more was, I used to see Google’s home page updated new logo (not sure if they had one for Diwali, hope they had?) when a new event comes, but this time Orkut leads the show. Way to go Orkut

Note: Event at this point of time, Orkut’s public registration is opened. Just checked and confirmed it. I could see the “Not a member yet? JOIN NOW” link at bottom of the page.
The top 5 Orkut FAQ not just answers the frequently asked questions but also introduces new features which I explained earlier. I was really wondering why Orkut did not update their news and annoucements page, but the ‘key’ is their help section has been updated with latest updates.
How can I delete more than one scrap at a time?
You can delete more than one scrap at a time by using the new “bulk delete” feature. Select individual scraps by checking the box to the left of the scrap or select all scraps on the page by clicking “select all” at the top of your scrapbook. To delete the scraps you have selected, click the “delete selected scraps” button at the top of your scrapbook.

How can I add multiple moderators to my community?
You can now add up to 10 moderators to help you manage your community. Moderators can remove inappropriate community topics, messages, and events. They can also accept, decline, ban, and remove members and posts.
To add a moderator, click on the “Manage” link below any members’ name on the “View Members” page, and select “Make Moderator” to make that member a moderator. You can remove moderator privileges at any time.
After opening Orkut to Public, there are loads of features rolled as I noticed surfing Orkut today. Indeed many features enhance the surfing of Orkut to its members and future members (not forgetting about Orkut being opened to Public).
1) Quick Reply
To start with new features being rolled out at Orkut, I would start with my favorite and much awaited feature at Orkut, the Quick Reply.
Users at Orkut felt difficult in making reply to every scrap they received, specially this was so annoying that you had to refresh your scrap page or revisit it very often to find for new scraps (or wait for a email from Orkut telling you about a new entry to scrapbook).
More over posting a reply is rather most annoying part of Orkut, you had to go to the users profile click on their scraps and then post your reply. To make things simple, guys over at Orkut had added small JavaScript function changes where by you can post a quick reply right from your scrap book under the one you are currently viewing.
That’s Right! No more invitations for Orkut, its finally opened to public. Anyone who has a Google Account can use them to login Google’s Orkut Social Networking Platform.
Just noticed the update of this feature today when I went to browse Orkut, noticed “Not a member yet? JOIN NOW” today at their home page which never had before.
Clicking on “JOIN NOW” take you to https://www.orkut.com/JoinCreate.aspx where by you are provided with options to get connected to Orkut. Use your Google Account (or create one) to get started.
Just tried using my other Gmail ID “cgkrish”. Once logged in using the Google Account I had, I was taken to the Terms of Service (TOS) acceptance page. Clicking on “I accept the Terms of Service” get your account integrated with Orkut service and you are logged in to Orkut service where you will have to start editing your profile. Next thing you can possibly do is search for friends and communities and rope them in. And you still have the invite option inside your settings page by which you can get connected with friends you know or invite them to join Orkut.
So don’t be going around your friends for invitations coz you finally have a way to get connected with Orkut without any invitation! But make sure you have a Google Account or create one. Creating Google Account does not require any invitation whereas you would need a invitation to open Gmail account.
Probably Google should unveil its no invitation service to Gmail soon! Earlier I posted a blog article about Google integrating ad service to its Orkut Platform, to monetize it in a better way opening Orkut to the general public (though the site says its still in BETA) is an excellent way to double their earnings and make their service reach globally.
Previously when you visit Orkut.com, you should have noticed clicking on “Join Orkut” would take you to http://www.orkut.com/JoinNetwork.aspx (the link is still live) which would display:
orkut is unique, because it’s an organically growing network of trusted friends. That way we won’t grow too large, too quickly and everyone will have at least one person to vouch for them.
If you know someone who is a member of orkut, that person can invite you to join as well. If you don’t know an orkut member, wait a bit and most likely you soon will.

And now clicking on “Join Orkut” takes us to http://www.orkut.com/JoinCreate.aspx and you are provided with a signup form to get connected with Orkut.

Orkut also has significantly rolled out a new feature today which allows to get friends request from people who speak just your language. No more Spanish or Fremch SPAMS

Expect more such updates and exclusive features being rolled out by Google for their Orkut service.

The new kid is finally born @ Microsoft
Installed Latest and Final version of Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer. I am providing a small guide to obtain the final build of Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer and have it installed on your pc before the official release goes through Microsoft site.
Step1: Visit http://downloads.yahoo.com/internetexplorer/index.php and download IE7 (ie7setup_mail.exe)
Yahoo! is promoting IE7 as Internet Explorer optimized for Yahoo! which comes loaded with some of its services integrated to the browser from Microsoft. Our aim is to obtain the fresh copy of IE, so dont install once the exe is downloaded. You should have downloaded the 16.7 MB file from here.
Open the folder where you have downloaded this file, Right Click > Extract to > ie7setup_mail (using WinRAR). To get this option you should have WinRAR installed on your computer, if you dont have it go grab a copy (just 0.99 MB) from RARLab. (Look at Screenshot below)
You should be provided with a directory called “ie7setup_mail” which will have 14 different files. Choose the file named “IE7-Setup.exe” (the actual IE7 Final file) which we need to install IE7 Final. Either copy it to different location or run it from the same directory. (Click on the images provided below to view full screenshot)
Step2: The installations should take you through couple of steps to get your preferences and validate your windows for “Geunine Windows” (make sure you install IE 7 Final only on Genuine Windows Operating System). Follow the onscreen instructions and install the IE 7. You should be prompted to uninstall IE7 (RC’s), make sure you proceed with it so you can have this new version installed after uninstalling the older one.
Step 3: You have Successfuly Installed Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer 7 Final!
Delete the other files in the extracted in the directory and enjoy the IE experience. You can also await for Microsoft’s official annoucement of IE7 Final availability. More reviews and updates shortly.
