The Hindu Reports:
Tambaram, Feb. 28: Computers and laboratory equipment inside the premises of the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed University), at Kattankulathur were damaged during a clash late on Monday night and in the early hours on Tuesday.

Students alleged that several strangers were found at the scene when they gathered peacefully on Monday night to stage a protest over their demands to know the status of approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). They said the police used needless force to disperse them. However, both the management and the police refused the charges, in turn alleging that students indulged in violence.
A little past 10 p.m. on Monday, scores of students, mostly hostel inmates, assembled near the main gate of the deemed university after several rounds of discussions with management representatives regarding the status of approval from the AICTE. Even as they continued their peaceful demonstration, the students alleged, some unknown persons at the scene started throwing stones at them.
The students, who pleaded not to be identified, told reporters that even before they realised what was happening, they were assaulted by the strangers, had gathered in the area. Windowpanes of restaurants, offices, kiosks, vehicles and signboards were demaged in the violence. Broken bottles and stones were found strewn all around near the main gate.

I received a sms from one of my college mate regarding some sort of strike thats gonna happen in our college the next day, I really ignored it thinking that it was just another forward message to tease college name or may be the administration (students are always against the college no matter what ever service they provide). Later when I was online all night, I had received buzzing messages from my college mate’s regarding the strike in college which is about to happen the next day due to some problem with the Principal in our Hostel the same day.
